High Street (beside the Tholsel/Town Hall), Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland
Medieval Marathon 2026 takes place in Kilkenny on 12 September 2026, using the city's historic streets and surrounding country roads as a scenic backdrop. The event presents multiple distances — Marathon, 30K, Half Marathon and 10K — with the Marathon, 30K and Half Marathon starting on High Street beside the Tholsel/Town Hall and the 10K starting at St Francis Bridge. The route passes key medieval sites within Kilkenny before heading out onto rural roads and returning to finish in front of Butler Gallery in the city centre.
All finishers are rewarded with a bespoke medal and a technical t-shirt, and the event includes aid stations and an event village to support participants and spectators. Entries are managed via the official event website with external registration links and enquiries can be sent to [email protected]. The race is road-based and designed to cater for a wide range of abilities, combining historic urban scenery with rolling country roads.
