Grand-place de Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (start). Finish in Hensies, Belgium.
The Marathon des Gueules Noires is a cross-border road marathon linking Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (France) to Hensies (Belgium) and returns for its second edition on 28 June 2026. The race is framed as a tribute to the region's mining heritage (the “Gueules Noires”) and follows largely rural and voie verte sections through former mining territory, offering a low-elevation route of approximately 42.195 km. The event promotes an inclusive atmosphere with a handisport start, shuttle logistics and practical services for participants.
The weekend is presented as a festival as well as a sporting challenge, with post-race festivities including food trucks, an artisan market and a DJ evening. Practical arrangements highlighted by the organisers include bib collection the day before and on race morning, shuttle buses between finish and start, and on-course refreshments; finishers receive an official medal and an event T-shirt. The overall tone is both commemorative and convivial, aimed at runners seeking a scenic, cross-border marathon experience with strong local character.
