About
Le Défi de la Muzelle 2025 returns for its fourth edition from July 21 to 25, 2025, in the scenic mountain town of Les Deux Alpes, nestled in the heart of France’s Écrins National Park. This unique stage trail race features two formats: the Grand Défi (100 km with 7100 m of elevation gain over 4 stages) and the Petit Défi (50 km with 3200 m of elevation gain, also across 4 stages). Each day unveils a new mountainous challenge – from the ridges of Pied Moutet and the iconic Diable ascent to the lunar landscapes of Jandri 3200 and the crystal-clear alpine lakes of the Écrins. With altitudes reaching over 3200 m, the event delivers breathtaking views and a chance to compete in side classifications such as best climber, sprinter, and descender – adding a Tour de France-style twist to the adventure.
Beyond the athletic challenge, Le Défi de la Muzelle places strong emphasis on community and celebration. Activities kick off on July 20 with bib pickup and race briefing, and continue daily with fun events like costume runs, bracelet sprints, and ski boot races. Evening concerts, awards ceremonies, and mountain village festivities foster camaraderie among runners. The stage-race format encourages participants to stay for the week, immersing themselves in the natural beauty and warm atmosphere of Les Deux Alpes. Expect marmots, chamois, glaciers, and lakes – and a week that’s as socially rewarding as it is physically demanding.
