Various starting points across the Isle of Wight
The IoW Randonnee (Isle of Wight Randonnee) is a non-competitive, donation-based cycling challenge around the Isle of Wight taking place on 6 September 2026. The ride follows the Round The Island cycle routes in a clockwise direction and offers two distance options: a 100 km and a 55 km route. The event opens at 09:00 and runs until 18:00 on the stated day, with multiple starting points across the island. It is aimed at recreational cyclists rather than racers, emphasising community participation and scenic minor-road riding.
From 2026 Mountbatten Isle of Wight will steward the Randonnee, taking responsibility for running the event while honouring the ride’s long heritage which dates to 1985. The organisers have moved the date to a fixed 6 September fixture to provide quieter roads, improved safety and more affordable travel for island-crossers. Entry is free and donations are warmly welcomed; the announcement also references the event’s collectable badges as part of its tradition. Riders are advised to consult the official cycleisland.co.uk pages for specific starting points, route maps and any future participant information.
