Hochwechseltrail – Trailrunning & Hiking in Wechselland

The Hochwechseltrail 2026 is a trailrunning and hiking weekend centred on Kirchberg am Wechsel under the Hochwechseltrail brand. The event combines fast evening formats and full-day mountain routes across 19–20 June 2026, with bib pickup available earlier in the week at a local running shop and at the Sportplatz Kirchberg. Navigation is a defining feature: all courses require participants to run or walk with official GPX tracks on a navigation device, with only occasional safety markers on course. The event emphasises sustainability, with part of the entry fee directed to regional rescue organisations instead of a conventional goodie bag.

Races include a 10 km Speedtrail, a 9.5 km Vertical, and a 23 km Classic plus corresponding hiking variants, all with chip timing and finisher medals provided. Start and finish infrastructure is based at Sportplatz Kirchberg with some finishes on Steyersberger Schwaig and an hourly shuttle back to Kirchberg on race day; catering and showers are available in the finish village and an after-race party is included. Briefings are mandatory and entries are limited, with the published entry deadline of 11 June 2026 and on-site late registration where places remain. The programme highlights mandatory GPX preparation, on-course aid stations, and awards for the running categories while hiking participants also receive finisher medals.
