The GREAT GLEN 73 is a point‑to‑point ultra along Scotland’s Great Glen from Fort William to Inverness, covering 73 miles with approximately 8,500 ft of climbing. The route follows the waymarked Great Glen Way across canal towpaths, forestry tracks and some road sections, taking in extensive loch and mountain views. Runners should expect a challenging, largely trail surface and a mix of undulating terrain and major climbs later in the course.
The event finishes with a ceremonial lap of the 400m track at Inverness Athletics Stadium and is run as a solo, largely unsupported challenge with marshalled checkpoints along the way. The course is fully marked and timed within a published time limit; on the official event listing there are marshalled checkpoints spaced roughly every 10 miles to support competitors. Entrants are advised to consult the organiser’s race page for full logistical and registration details.
