About
The second event of the Gaelforce 10K Trilogy is city trail running, but not as you know it. You'll run on grassy tracks, rough trails, woodland paths and sealed roads in a looped route right to the top of Ben of Howth and back.
Lonely Planet calls this one of its ‘Epic Runs of the World’ and you’ll see why! With two assents of the steep terrain of Howth Hill to conquer, this route will repay the challenge with stunning views over Dublin Bay.
Stage 1: Field run & woodland path
The route starts in the field to the far left of the Deer Park Golf Club buildings, and then ascends the steep terrain of Ben of Howth on a narrow track.
Stage 2: sealed road, greenway, steep track
At the upper part of the hill, the terrain changes to sealed roads and then joins the old railway track greenway. At the end of the greenway track, it’s time to ascend Ben of Howth again and make it to the summit.
Stage 3: Field run
The route then follows the trail back down the hill towards the finish line at Deer Park Golf Club.
Route Terrain
The route varies from sealed roads, wet bog, forest trails and gravel paths. Expect the unexpected!
