The Foxton Hound Ultra offers two long-distance trail options, the 100 km and the 50 km, taking runners on a scenic loop around Winwick Hall and the Harborough Round long-distance footpath. The route weaves through villages, canal towpaths and notable features such as Foxton Locks, Naseby Battlefield and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way, with GPX tracks and written route instructions provided by the organiser. The event is TRA licensed and held under UKA rules, with multiple staffed aid stations, hot food at selected checkpoints and professional first-aid cover at the start and finish. All finishers receive a specially commissioned event medal and free digital race photos are made available after the event.
Race Harborough requires mandatory kit for safety and navigation, including a charged mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, head torch with spare batteries, waterproof jacket, whistle and a personal cup (cupless event). 100 km entrants have additional mandatory items (reflective top/bands, hat and gloves). Entrants are expected to be self-sufficient for navigation: GPX and written route instructions (mapbook) are provided and the course is well marked but runners should not rely solely on temporary tape or arrows.
The courses follow large sections of the Harborough Round and intersect numerous long-distance paths, passing Foxton Locks, Naseby battlefield and parts of the Brampton Valley Way. There are multiple staffed aid stations offering hot food at key checkpoints, vegetarian and vegan options, and on-course medical provision. The 100 km has an overall cut-off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut-offs (see organiser PDF) and pacers are permitted for the 100 km from Checkpoint 5. The 50 km has a 9 hour finish cut-off; it is served by three staffed checkpoints plus an additional water station. Entrants may pre-order event merchandise, prize categories are awarded to the top finishers, and participants are invited to support local partner charities via optional donations.
