Course des Volcans is a long-established trail running event centred on the Panoramique des Dômes in the Parc des Volcans d’Auvergne. The organiser CUC Athlétisme stages multiple distances, notably a 26 km and a 14 km route, both starting and finishing at the Panoramique des Dômes and showcasing the UNESCO-listed volcanic landscape. The event promotes sustainable access, with a free weekend T2C shuttle from Clermont-Ferrand and encouragement of carpooling via Mov'Ici. Registration for the 50th edition is announced to open in late May 2026; competitors should check the official site for final entry details.
A reconnaissance of the 14 km and 26 km courses is organised on 31 August, and around 80 volunteers support waymarking, aid stations and safety on race day. The longer course is described at roughly 26 km with about 600 m of ascent and the shorter at about 14 km with about 350 m of ascent, while GPX traces and route profiles are published on the event pages. Practical information on shuttle timetables, meeting points and return services is provided on the official website to help participants plan arrival and departure. Some logistical specifics such as entry inclusions and prize details are not shown on the summary pages and should be confirmed with the organiser.
