Cairngorm Ultra Trail

The Cairngorm Ultra Trail is a single-day off‑road ultramarathon based at Mar Lodge Estate near Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park. The event centres on a high‑terrain, waymarked route that showcases remote mountain tracks, old drove roads and wild Highland scenery; a main 60 km ultra is offered with an optional shorter course variant. The race is organised by High Terrain Events and is promoted as a self‑sufficient mountain challenge with limited aid provision and GPX route files available for competitors to use as backup.

Participants are supported by checkpoint marshals and a small number of aid stations, and on‑site camping is available at the event base for runners and crews. The event is a recognised UTMB qualifying race and enforces minimum age and time‑limit rules to protect safety and the local environment. Pre‑race information including an event briefing is published in the week before the race to confirm final logistics and cut‑offs.
