The Berenloop Terschelling Marathon (commonly referred to as the Berenloop) is a two-day island running festival held on Terschelling, finishing beneath the Brandaris lighthouse in West‑Terschelling. The weekend combines multiple distinct races — Kleintje Berenloop (5 km / 10 km), a Youth Run (600 m / 1,200 m) and the main half (21.1 km) and full marathon (42.2 km) — each using varied terrain of roads, shell/gravel paths, dunes and several kilometres along the beach. The event is organised by Stichting Evenementen Terschelling in association with Sports Association Friesland and publishes detailed course maps, cut‑offs and participant instructions on its official site.
The Berenloop emphasises the island experience and spectator atmosphere, with aid stations roughly every 5 km, designated support facilities at the finish and a merchandise presence during the weekend. Several distances have entry limits and for 2026 many distances are listed as fully booked while the Youth Run remained open for registration in the provided material. Competitor rules, timing (BibTag), luggage arrangements and cut‑off times are set out on the event pages and the Competition Secretariat provides contact and registration support.
