Basildon Pretty Muddy 5k 2026 | Race for Life is a charity obstacle event organised by Cancer Research UK as part of the Race for Life series, taking place at Gloucester Park in Basildon. Participants are invited to climb, crawl and slide around a roughly 5 km looped course that weaves around park lakes and uses grass and tarmac paths. The event is designed to be inclusive and social, encouraging individuals and groups to take part and raise funds for life‑saving cancer research.
Start times are delivered in staggered waves beginning from 11:30 with each wave set every 15 minutes to manage safety on course; participants are asked to gather in front of the stage at their designated time and listen for instructions. The course is mostly flat with a couple of short hilly sections and finishes on grass at the football pitches behind Basildon Sporting Village. On-site facilities include refreshments, toilets and limited event parking, and the organiser notes the event is not suitable for wheelchair users so participants should plan accordingly.
