The Alkmaar City Run by Night is a festive evening road race held in Alkmaar city centre on Wednesday 13 May 2026, the evening before Ascension Day. Now in its 12th edition, the event features a main 10 km distance, a shorter 5 km route and a Rollebol Kids Run for children aged 4–12, and typically draws a large local field (around 10,000 participants). The course threads historic, illuminated streets and hospitality squares where residents and local venues create a party atmosphere with extra music and decorative lighting.
Organised by Le Champion in collaboration with Alkmaar City Run, the event combines racing with entertainment and post-race festivities around the Grote Kerk / inner city. Official information and registration pages state that participants receive a bib with timing chip, live tracking via the event app and an event medal; the event also provides closed/secure parcours, aid stations, medical cover and personal race photography. The programme explicitly includes the Rollebol Kids Run and community-focused elements, and the event works with the charity Metakids as beneficiary.
