The 27. GEROLSTEINER HELGOLAND-MARATHON 2026 takes place on the offshore island of Helgoland, proudly billed as the world’s only high-sea marathon. Runners experience a distinctive island circuit centred around the Musik‑Pavillon by the Landungsbrücke on Am Südstrand, with the programme and venues all set within easy reach. A multi‑lap format showcases the North Sea setting and maritime landmarks, creating a memorable atmosphere on race day.
The event offers three distances to suit different ambitions: the full marathon, a new 10‑mile run, and the Mini‑Marathon. Official starts on Saturday are staggered in the morning, and participants benefit from four refreshment points per lap and a friendly, club‑run organisation by VfL Fosite Helgoland v. 1893 e.V. Registration includes a T‑shirt, medal and certificate, online results and a festive closing party in the evening.
Course operations and times follow the published programme, with a requested overall time consideration of six hours noted by the organiser. Travel to Helgoland is by ship, catamaran or aeroplane, so participants are encouraged to plan logistics and accommodation early. Further technical details, rules and any updates are provided via the organiser’s Ausschreibung and information pages on the official website.
