Elsterflutbecken / Festwiese near Sportforum (marathon start), Leipzig
The 23. Mitteldeutscher Marathon (Mitteldeutscher Marathon) is a cross-city road running event on 4 October 2026 that links Leipzig and Halle (Saale). The marathon itself starts in Leipzig at the Elsterflutbecken / Sportforum area and finishes at Halle’s Marktplatz, while a programme of additional races in Halle includes the Händellauf Halbmarathon, 10‑km runs, a 10‑km walking event, Schnupperlauf and relay (Metropolstaffeln). The event is presented under the Metropolmarathon Mitteldeutschland brand and is promoted as “2 Bundesländer - 2 Städte - 1 Marathon”, emphasising the regional route and multi‑discipline offer.
Participant services on the official pages include pacers for common marathon target times, net time measurement via Mikatag, clothing-bag transport from start to finish, a finisher medal and post-race massage, and medical support along the course. The organiser also provides a free MDV travel ticket for race day (bib doubles as travel ticket within specified zones) and detailed packet‑pick‑up times in both Halle and Leipzig. Entry and discipline information, registration deadlines and optional extras are published on the official website and the dedicated discipline pages.
