Waldsee (Ludwigshafen am Rhein), Rheinland‑Pfalz, Germany
The 100km World War II Escape Evasion & Remembrance March is a commemorative long‑distance march that retraces wartime escape and evasion routes between Germany and France. The event is presented as a semi‑tactical evasion march along memorials and battlefields, beginning in the Waldsee/Ludwigshafen area and finishing near Lauterbourg/Hatten at the former Allied lines. Participants navigate a planned route using Komoot with GPS coordinates provided as a Plan B and must visit ten control points, stamping a control card at each checkpoint.
The edition for 2026 adopts a new route crossing the Siegfried Line/Westwall to the Maginot Line while preserving the event's remembrance focus and strict equipment rules. The march covers 100 km and must be completed within 24 hours; organisers specify mandatory survival/evasion equipment and offered a limited number of complete Evasion Kits in prior editions. The event is organised by IG Heimatforschung Rheinland‑Pfalz and combines historical reflection with an endurance navigation challenge for participants.
